USB-SU Homecoming Business Breakfast

USB alumni are invited to come and enjoy a business breakfast in conjunction with Stellenbosch University (SU) to hear more about the state of South Africa’s economy. Bonang Mohale, chief executive officer (CEO) of Business Leadership South Africa (BLSA), is the guest speaker and he will talk about South Africa’s economy and the role of the business sector in the country’s public sphere.

USB’s Nthabiseng Moleko, lecturer in Managerial Economics and Statistics, will do the welcoming and alumnus D’Niel Strauss, director of Stocks & Strauss (Pty) Ltd, lecturer and investor, will be the facilitator.

Bonang Mohale was, until his BLSA appointment, vice president upstream and the chairman of Shell downstream South Africa (Pty) Limited; Shell South Africa Holdings (Pty) Ltd; Shell South Africa Refinery (Pty) Ltd and South African Petroleum Refinery (SAPREF). He had country responsibilities for the Oil, Chemical, Aviation, Marine and Lubricants global businesses and was operationally accountable for Retail; Fuels & Bitumen; Supply & Distribution classes of businesses as well as Finance; Legal; HR; Safety (HSSE) and Transformation. He was awarded “The Momentum Friendship Blazer” in recognition of being the first RSA Nation Building Champion in 2015. He has been a guest on numerous international TV, radio and magazine programmes.

More about the facilitators

Commissioner Nthabiseng Moleko lectures in Managerial Economics and Statistics on the Development Finance and MBA programmes at the USB. She holds an MPhil in Development Finance from the University of Stellenbosch Business School and a BusSc Honours (Economics) from the University of Cape Town. In her free time, Nthabiseng works with high school learners, and used to do career fairs and career workshops in the Eastern Cape with students, using poetry, art, media, rap and dance to make the fairs more exciting. She likes to encourage young underprivileged people to pursue education.

D’Niel Strauss is a strategic leader with experience in the private equity and venture capital industries over the past seven years. He has lectured and presented to large groups of people at various events and conferences in China, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and South Africa, which include lectures at the Universities of Pretoria and Stellenbosch respectively. He is a co-founder and director of Stocks & Strauss (Pty) Ltd, and has been involved in the direct and indirect investments of more than 30 companies.
